CDPoker Review

CDPoker is one of the sites backed by the world's second largest casino software provider, PlayTech. As such, you can expect extreme security when it comes to handling funds. CDPoker is also a relatively new site, with a moderate number of players.

It seems CDPoker still has a long way to go in many departments. The site design is neat and uncluttered, but if it wants to compete with other larger game rooms it may have to work on its navigability.

Player population is very sparse at the moment, though if the iPoker network initiated by PlayTech keeps up its aggressive marketing campaign, it should soon get a better player base. At the moment, what seems to drive most people away is the bad rep that the site gets from user reviews.

Among the most common complaints is the frequent disconnection. This is a major concern that should be addressed publicly by the CDPoker authorities, as the bad reputation the site acquired because of this may well have driven good players out of the site's range. If the CDPoker administrators are doing anything about it, they would do well to announce it in their front page and at the same time include it in a portion of their FAQ.

Customer support doesn't seem to be all that speedy, either. Response time could take up to 14 hours, and the response isn't guaranteed to be detailed and satisfactory.

CDPoker does have some attractive incentives for low-stakes players. One of them is the Rio Jackpot Sit 'N' Go idea, where 6 players "Sit 'N' Go" with a buy-in of $20 + $3. The winner of 6 consecutive Rio Jackpot Sit 'N' Go tournaments will win the progressive jackpot prize, which starts at $25,000 and rises by $10,000 weekly. And as this promo loves the number 6, the player who finishes in the top 2 for 6 times in a row wins a $300 prize.

The site also came up with the CDPoker Tour (CDPT), a monthly tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of $15,000. Incidentally, points garnered through gameplay are called "CD-Points." Players who garner 200 CD-Points or more within the week that leads up to the CD-Points tournament automatically receive an invitation to enter the CDPT. The Tour appears to be limited to one game per "season," with the most current one being "No Limit Hold'em Freezeout" season. The CDPT is a valiant idea, though more aggressive marketing should draw in a crowd that will be able to rate the real value of this tournament.
