Poker Host Review

Poker Host is a website that also allows casino and horse race betting. It's a relatively new website that recently joined the SBG Global network, a large online sportsbook. As such, Poker Host can be expected to be very secure and reliable. A wide variety of payment options, including the Internet Cash Card (ICC), which could be used as a debit card with your poker earnings as the money pool. Your money is safe with this site.

The Poker Host software sports elegant graphics, tasteful and uncluttered. The software allows multitabling, up to three tables at a time. No-limit and fixed limit games exist for Hold'em, Omaha, and Omaha hi/lo, while only fixed limit is offered for 7-Card Stud and 7-Card Stud hi/lo.

Traffic for ring games is rather low. At peak hours there are only 300-500 players, 95% of whom are in the Hold'em section. The poor gaming population is rather sad considering Poker Host has more promotions than many other online gamerooms. There are also 10 freerolls each day, and over $300,000 a month in freerolls and nightly guarantees.

While there are not a lot of players yet, buy-in tournaments for the World Poker Tour (WPT) could come in relatively cheap. This is a good launchpad for people who aspire to make it into the WSOP and WPT, but are strapped for cash.

The no-limit hold'em games appear to be the most popular. They are incidentally very loose, with viewed flop percentages frequently coming up to as high as 70%, and with stakes being very low.

What would Annie Duke, winner of a 2005 WSOP bracelet, not like about this site? It's the presence of Ladies Night and Testosterone Tuesday. Duke has consistently refused to play in women-only tournaments, after having said "Poker is one of the only sports where a woman can compete on a totally equal footing with a man." However, regulars of the site find the generous freerolls and deposit bonuses set aside for members of specific sexes on specific days to be highly satisfactory.

In addition, Ladies Night gives first to fifth place winners a chance to get into the Ladies WSOP Main Event Final. That and a $50 basket of Avon goodies for first placer is as good an incentive as any!

There are no problems with customer support, even if there's no phone support handy. Email and live chat work well and speedily enough - and if even those fail, you could always try the online forum, where other players can try to answer your questions.
